Google is now the subsidiary company of Alphabet, its own newly created holding company. Google is one of several smaller companies under the Alphabet umbrella. Companies such as Google Car, Nest (thermostats), and Calico (biotech R&D) are all included under the Alphabet holding. So what does this mean for Google? Well, trading is up 5% already since this news came out. Google is calling this an "alpha bet," so to speak (haha!). But did Google execs realize--or did they Google :) their idea before implementation--because a simple search reveals that the trademark "Alphabet" belongs to automaker, BMW?
