Robert Eggers, a tattooed bad-boy biker, is a creative designer at Specialized Bikes, and he's just designed a super-cool electric bike. Oh, you thought I was talking about a hell's angel, Harley hog, leather-wielding motorcyle rebel, eh? No, no, c'mon, that's the past. Remember, we have entered the fitness/organic foodie era and we are no longer polluting the air with strong chemical residues that come from conventional vehicles. We are eating, exercising, and driving clean. Eggers's new concept bike is no exception. The electric bike is actually built around your smartphone. For instance, pretty much everything you do with the bike is controlled by your phone--want to lock this bad boy up when you enter a building? Your phone controls that. Want to program a route on your bike? Yep, you guessed it, your smartie is in charge.
But why is this two-wheeled contraption so badass? Well, Shakespeare was right: it's all in a name. Eggers is calling this new concept bike fUCI. Each letter is read like "F.U.C.I." So what, you ask. Let's break this one down. UCI is the agency that controls sports cycling. Pretty much every thing about this new bike disobeys the UCI's strict rules and effectively tells the UCI to go, um, eff, off (haha).
Eggers's bike is still in concept stage but it looks pretty cool and you might be taking this road beast out for a spin before you know it.
